Peacock Swirls - Advanced Entry

What an elegant challenge this was. It was a great exercise that pushed trace control to the limit. If you were trying it for the first time, like I was, then you probably had to do it several times before you got the hang of it. This was my third try and I’ll definitely try it again!

For my first try, I kept it simple just to get the feel of it. Picked some light colors and quickly realized, they weren’t contrasting enough to show off these swirls.

First Attempt

The second try was a bit more complex, and I focused on the pouring and the swirling control. I didn’t pour equal amounts of soap for each color, so I ended up running out of soap for some colors towards the top of the soap.

Second Attempt

Third try was the final one. I would adjust the colors next time as I think there was not enough contrast and the soap was very difficult to photograph. I noticed it changed dramatically based on the light I looked at it in and I struggled to get the right angle when I photographed it that didn’t put a glare on it.
